MND

About Motor Neurones Disease (MND) is a progressive, terminal neurological disease with no known cause, no cure and no effective treatment option.

Each day in Australia two people die from MND and two people are diagnosed with this fatal disease. People with MND progressively lose the use of their limbs, ability to speak, swallow and breath, whilst their mind and senses usually remain in tact.

The average life expectancy is 2.5 years.

For every person diagnosed with MND it is estimated that a further 14 members of their family and friends will live with the effect forever and research further indicates that patients carry the burden of costs around $240,000 throughout the course of their illness.
